They've been an obsession of mine for a while now. I love these liquer bottles (most famously from bols) that are music boxes too. They each have tiny dancers spinning around in them and play beautiful, sparkly melodies. Last year my design sponge sneak peak highlighted my very petite collection. As seen above... my ballerina bottle was found in a shop in new foundland and still has the gold leaf peppered liqueur inside of it. The other has a tiny couple that waltz to a strangely haunting rendition of ma vie en rose gracing it's center.

Noble Town Vintage!
This year, for my birthday, a friend gave me a gorgeous necklace from Noble Town Vintage... I wear it all the time and wanted to see what else they had to offer... and it turns out to be a treasure trove of gorgeous baubles!
And I love their adorable packaging. Not gonna lie... I'm totally a sucker for packaging

Sorry it's been so long.... check out Trove
I'm back! After a very busy season for my company, Poppies & Posies, we are finally beginning to slow down a teeny tiny bit. Whew! So sorry I've neglected the blog.... Anywho.... just had to share this amazing wallpaper from Trove Studios.
This is probably my favorite wallpaper of all time... I think it would be fabulous in a guest bathroom; with all the little opera box people staring out at you... very cheeky. Loves it!
And this in a dining room with only recessed lighting..... in a black ceiling.... I really need a house to redecorate!
Check out all of the wonderful wallpaper (and more) at Trove. They're also being featured at the Cooper-Hewitt through January.

Illustrator: Arthur Rackham
It's been awhile since my last post... mostly because I've been working so much! Last weekend my company designed a wedding at the Illustrators' Society here in New York. It's such a beautiful old building and all of the rooms and hallways are lined with fantastic illustrations. For the wedding's centerpieces we printed illustrations by the bride's favorite illustrators on vellum and wrapped them around candles. We then placed the candles around the peonies, Juliet roses, and mint we arranged in vintage bottles at the center of the table. Each table was a separate illustrator. One of whom was Arthur Rackham... one of my all time favorites. When we get photos back from the event, I'll be sure to share. It was absolutely gorgeous!

Safari Chic
I have always been enamored with the seemingly effortless style of the safari. Being in the middle of the bush, and still able to serve high tea on the good china just sends me. That said, I don't think being in the middle of the bush is prerequisite to emulating safari style. I think a tent from east african canvas would make for very comfortable guest accommodations... hell, I'd love to live in one.

Bella in Blue
The collages and jewelry from Catwalk Paper Works are absolutely enchanting. The artist, Felicia Piacentino, uses vintage ephemera and 'paper from everyday life' to create these gorgeous works of art. I'd love to wallpaper a dressing room in prints of 'Bella in Blue.' A framed 'When I was a Young Girl' would make for a tres chic nursery.

Illustrator
Anyone who has ever been to my house(or seen my d*s sneak peek) can see that I have a thing for old illustrations. I'm not even sure how it started, but I am always drawn to them and especially love old children's books, as they are chock full of beautiful stuff. Here's my latest find... love the simple pink, grey, black color combo.

Stars in Residence
Marilyn Monroe in her apartment at the Beverly Carlton Hotel
I'm loving Architectural Digest's 'Stars in Residence,' a group of portraits of different
Hollywood heavyweights in their homes. The anecdotes that accompany each portrait are just as delicious as the photographs themselves.
Bette Davis in Hollywood
Ava Gardner in Madrid apartment
Doris Day at her home near Toluca Lake
Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward in Hollywood
Christopher Mitchum in Hollywood

Fair Folks & A Goat
Today, my business partner and I (I am co.owner of Poppies & Posies here in NYC) taught a little floral seminar at Fair Folks & A Goat in honor of mother's day. The space is incredible; filled to the brim with gorgeous works of art, beautiful jewelry, furniture, and even a closet full of clothes. There is a little something for everyone. It may seem when you walk in that you have just stepped into someone's seriously chic studio apartment. Not to fear, you're in the right place, and everything is for sale! The shop, open by appointment only, is fittingly located in a beautiful studio apartment on the UES. To make an appointment (and discover the address of its otherwise undisclosed location) contact Fair Folks & A Goat. Also be sure to check out their new b&b venture in New Orleans.

Walnut... Why Yes
I am crazy for wallpaper... I just love it. One of my favorite 'paper' sources is Walnut Wallpaper.
These are just a few of the many designs that I am itching to plaster all over my walls... if only my landlord felt the same way...
